For the past few weeks we have been preparing for UN Day instead of actually focusing on Modeling the United Nations. Shivangi, Luke and I were put in charge of a group of 8th, 9th and 10th graders. There were four other groups in charge of these grades as well and we all collaborated to creating a subtopic under the broad theme – “Youth as Global Citizens”. We decided on racism as an appropriate topic to discuss. We arranged a google document for our initial plan and drafted out lesson plan.
Our main aim was to engage the students in a discussion about what racism actually is in a modern context.
